CHICOPEE – Lance Newsome, 68, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Burlington, Vermont on July 31, 1949, a beloved son of the late Jedd W. Newsome and Jennie J. (Swincicki) Newsome. He was raised in Chicopee and lived in Aldenville for many years. He was currently employed as a Construction Manager for Suez Environment formerly United Water in Agawam. During his leisure time, Lance enjoyed working around his home with various projects which included woodworking and carpentry. He also enjoyed his yearly trips to Lake George and Florida. His true passion over the past several years was restoring his prize 1972 Viper Red Chevy Nova. He attended many car shows and won numerous trophies. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend of 43 years, Diane M. (Chandonnet) Newsome; his loving daughter, Tina M. Colantuono and her husband, Michael, of Somers, CT; his loving step-daughter, Kimberly L. Claine and her husband, John, of Greenfield; his three precious grandchildren, Kendall M. Colantuono, Nicole L. Claine and Michelle M. Claine; his dear sister, Joyce Koske of Chicopee; his two dear sisters-in-law, Joan Cyr and her husband, Robert, of South Hadley and Linda Guenette and her husband, Thomas, of Shreveport, LA; and his dear brother-in-law, Allan J. Chandonnet of Chicopee. His family will receive friends on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. On Monday morning, November 20, 2017 his friends are asked to assemble beginning at 10 am with their show cars at the Funeral Home followed by a Prayer at 11 a.m. Lance’s “Final Ride” will follow with a Procession to Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
