Helen A. Landers-Abate, 91, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Overlook Nursing Home, in Burrillville. She was the widow of Walter W. Landers and William F. Abate.
Born in Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Viola (Austin) Hawkins. She lived in Glocester before moving to Providence in 1976. She lived in Providence until her move to North Providence in 1992 and was most recently lived in Scituate.
Helen was the former owner of Helen’s Telephone Answering and Secretarial Service. She retired in 1988 from Allendale Insurance in Johnston. She was a former member of Chepachet Union Church and Roger Williams Baptist Church. She is currently a member at North Scituate Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: James D. Landers of North Bellerica, MA, Lynda L. Hintz and her husband, David of Bristol, CT, Jacqueline L. Landers of Las Vegas and Joyce E. Landers Frantz of Florida, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren as well as her companion, J. Gilbert Pickering, his nieces, their families and Gil's sister in law, Maryanne Pickering.
