Edna M. Minchew, 93, of Wray, Georgia, died Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, October 21, 2005, at New Hope Cemetery, Ambrose, with Rev. Ernest Harper officiating. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9, Thursday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Minchew was born January 30, 1912, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Robert “Bob” and Drucilla Harper McDermitt. She lived in the Irwin community all of her life. Mrs. Minchew attended South Georgia College and graduated from Valdosta State College. She taught school at Ambrose, Pridgen and retired from the Irwin County Schools. Mrs. Minchew was a member of the Ben Hill-Irwin Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Minchew was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Mrs. Minchew is survived by two nephews and a niece: Bobby H. McDermitt of Wray, Dahl McDermitt of Dublin and Vicki Jones of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howell Edward Minchew.
