David G. Wilson of Medford died on Tuesday, November 14, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Raised in Kentucky and Ohio, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Grubbs) Wilson. David proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War. He settled in Medford in 1963 and served as a Firefighter for over 20 years, and Captain of the Medford Fire Department.
David was a man of God. A Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Altar Server at Saint James and Saint Joseph Parishes in Medford and Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs in Sarasota, Florida. He regularly attended Adoration at Saint Joseph Church in Medford. He was very devout to the Divine Mercy, Blessed Mother, the Rosary and Saint Joseph.
David was the beloved husband of 60 years to Rena (Marino) Wilson, and the devoted father of MaryEllen Wilson-Smith of Bradenton, FL, David Wilson of Medford, Melinda Ryder of N. Andover, Melissa Toppi and her husband John of Saugus, and Darin Wilson of Medford, his partner Susan, and her children Jackie and Julie. He was the loving grandfather of Matthew and Luke Smith of Florida, Wayne and Daniel Ryder of Georgia, Amanda Jabir and her husband Kamal of Saugus, and the loving great grandfather of Sophia and Adam Jabir. David is also survived by his brother Beryl Wilson of Toledo, OH, his brother-in-law Nick Marino and his wife, Minna and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Saturday, November 18 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Visiting hours Friday, November 17, from 5 through 8 PM.
