Robert S. DiBerto
U.S. Air Force Veteran
TEWKSBURY: Robert Stanley DiBerto, age 75, a resident of Tewksbury for 53years, passed away at home in the care of his family and hospice on Sunday, November 12, 2017.
He was the beloved husband of Ann M. (Turner) DiBerto with whom he would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on February 8, 2018.
Born in Billerica on July 6, 1942, he was the son of the late John A. DiBerto and the late Zelma (Farnan) DiBerto.
Rob was raised in Billerica, and graduated from Billerica High School in 1960.
In 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War with the 30th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. He was awarded several decorations for his active duty service including the National Defense Service Medal, the American Theater Medal, the Air Force Unit Commendation with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Airmen’s Medal for Heroism.
Prior to his illness, he was employed as a Fabricator by the Metalcraft Door Company in Woburn, where he worked for over 20 years.
Rob enjoyed tinkering with his antique automobile, and attending antique car shows. In addition, he loved driving to Logan Airport to watch the commercial aircraft land and take off.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Gina M. Shinabarger and her husband Anthony of Lyman, SC, and Deanne M. Morgan and her husband Glenn of Tewksbury; two sisters, Rose Gottfredsen of Woburn and Lorraine DiBerto of Chelmsford; his grandson, Zachary Shinabarger; also several nieces and nephews.
Rob was the brother of the late John, George and Frederick DiBerto, and longtime friend of the late Guy Indelicato.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment will be at a later date.
