Munroe, Guy W. “Bill” of Wellesley passed away peacefully with his family by his side following complications of a heart transplant on November 9th, 2017.
Born in Newton, Bill was a lifelong resident of Wellesley, graduating from Wellesley High School, New Preparatory Academy and the University of New Hampshire (’72). A star athlete, Bill was captain of the UNH golf team & remains one of UNH Hockey’s leading scorers. He went on to play professional hockey for the California Golden Seals. Ever the entrepreneur, Bill was founder & CEO of GW Enterprises as well as founder & CFO of Coastal Clothiers. Bill was a longtime member of Wellesley Country Club where he made many friends and played many holes of scratch golf.
Bill was the loving and devoted father of Ashley W. Munroe of Wellesley and Hayley L. Munroe of Cleveland. He is survived by his former wife, Pamela A. Munroe and was preceded in death by his daughter, the late Paisley C. Munroe as well as his brother Steven H. Munroe of Sudbury. Although he has yet to have grandchildren, he is survived by his grandpets, MacKenzie and Mister.
What best defined Bill was his heart. He was thoughtful, selfless, funny, and kind. He was the life of the party and had the immense love of his family as well as countless friends. He was the best father two daughters could ever ask for & will be missed beyond comprehension.
