Anna (Franzosa) DeLeo, of Medford and formerly of Boston’s North End, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 9th at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was 87.
Born in San Sossio Baronia, Avellino, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Pasqualina (Carifio) Franzosa. Anna came to the United States in early 1954 and later married Frank DeLeo on June 27, 1954 at St. Leonard Church, of Boston’s North End. Anna and Frank lived in the North End of Boston from 1954-1968. In 1968, they moved to Medford and made a new home for their family.
A homemaker, Anna had the most important job of all. She built a loving home with her husband to nurture and love her children, so that they may become the best individuals they could be. She was a woman of great faith and lived her life in accordance with the Christian virtues: Faith, Hope and Charity. She was a selfless and humble woman who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her childrens favorite dish was her pasta.
Anna was a strong woman with a grateful disposition. Even as she was nearing the end of her life, she would be sure to thank the nurses caring for her. A true caregiver herself, she was devoted to her community and family.
Anna was the beloved wife of Frank DeLeo, with whom she shared 63 loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Pasquale "Pat" DeLeo and his fiancee Jane Johnedis-Woodbury of Medford, Angela Musi, Joseph DeLeo and his wife MaryBeth, all of Belmont, Anna Laskey and her husband Mark of Medford. Anna was the loving grandmother of Cristina, Julianne, Anthony, Michael Jr., Joseph, Emilia, Frankie, Gina, and P.J., and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Tuesday, November 14th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
