Rev. James Robert "Bob" Johnson, 83, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Anderson died November 9, 2017 at St. Vincent Anderson Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born October 27, 1934 in Kentucky the son of James B. and Matilda (Muse) Johnson.
He served as pastor at the Church of God in Lawrenceburg, Ind., for 27 years and as a technical engineer at Proctor and Gamble. He served the Lord, his family, his congregation and the community with humility, gentleness and grace. Though small in stature, he was a giant in character.
He is survived by his three children, Judy Johnson of Anderson, Karen Ballinger of Anderson and Lisa (Eric) Livingston of Illinois; sister, Mary (Charles) Justice and brother, David (Cecily) Johnson; grandchildren, Christa (A.J.) Taylor, Nathan Ballinger, Erica (Kyle) Hibler and Kayla (Cody) Haug; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Kolton, Caden, Hudson and Kenzley; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lorene (McFarland) Johnson in 2007; son, Gary and brother Eugene.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at Chesterfield Community Church of God. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
