Obituary

Thomas R. “Herman” Fandel 94, of Natick and Edgartown Massachusetts died Wednesday November 8, 2017 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Boland) Fandel sharing 73 years of marriage.
He was born in Cambridge the son of the late Theodore and Catherine (Reynolds) Fandel.

Mr. Fandel worked for New England Telephone Company 38 years retiring in 1985.

He was an active outdoorsman, hunting, fishing and target shooting for many years and was a member of the Framingham Sportsman Association, and Westwood Gun Club. Mr. Fandel was a longtime supporter of the Natick Comets Hockey Program and enjoyed a variety of pro sports especially the Red Sox.

He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II in the U.S. Atlantic Fleet.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his five children: Kathleen Horton and her husband Fred of Higganum, CT., Anne Marie Fryer and her husband Francis of Medfield, Mary and her husband Robert of Rochester Hills, MI., Christa Fandel, MD and her husband Paul Trainer, MD of Monroeville, PA, and Thomas R. Fandel Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Mendham, NJ. He was predeceased by brothers William, Theodore, and Francis. He is survived by his brother James Fandel and his wife Catherine of Reading. The Fandels have thirteen grandchildren: Rachael (Horton) Erwin and her husband Jerry; Jacob E. Horton; William C. Fryer; Nicholas R., Catherine M. Timothy T., Amanda R. and Melinda E. Purcell; Adam and Annie Trainer; Molly, Thomas and Jeremy Fandel; two great grandchildren: Ashley (Erwin) English and her husband Matthew, and Sean Erwin; and a one month old great-great grandchild, Connor Jeffrey English.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday November 11 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street at Natick Common. Burial will follow in in Glenwood Cemetery.

Visiting hours are Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
