HARRINGTON, Francis A., Jr. “Skip” 81, died at UMass Memorial Hospital Worcester on November 5, 2017 due to complications from a recent illness. He was surrounded by his loving family, and passed away peacefully.
Mr. Harrington was born on October 7, 1936 in Worcester, MA to his parents, Francis and Jacquelyn Harrington. He graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in 1970 and from Boston University with a Master’s degree in Engineering in 1972. He married Charlotte Millard on May 30, 1967. They moved from Boston to Wellesley in 1970, where they raised their family of four sons.
Skip had an incredible wit, and enjoyed sharing jokes and food recipes. His passion for airplanes and flight began at a young age, and he enjoyed piloting his own plane for much of his adult life. Skip was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wellesley, and was a Past Master. He was also a train enthusiast, and loved planning domestic as well as international travel to experience the world’s different railways.
Mr. Harrington is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Fred Harrington and Alanna Bravman of Holliston, MA; his son and daughter-in-law, Parker and Kelly Harrington of Westwood, MA; his son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Jessamy Harrington of Wellesley, MA; his brother, James Harrington; and eight grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his dear son, Stephen Harrington.
A private gathering of family members to celebrate Skip’s life is being planned for November 14. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester.
