Funeral services for Mr. Aubrey Gene Hasty, Sr., 79, of Ashburn, GA, will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Perry Funeral Chapel, Ashburn, GA. Mr. Hasty passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at home. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Hasty was the son of the late Joseph Edward Hasty and Verlyn Lawhorn Hasty. He was retired from Georgia D.O.T. as Assistant District Traffic and Safety Engineer. He served in the Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife Velma McGee Hasty of 55 and a half years. He was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church of Abbeville, GA, and served as Deacon for many years and very much loved his family.
Mr. Hasty is survived by his children, Aubrey Gene (Rene) Hasty, Jr. “Geno”, Ashburn, GA; Sherry (Carter) Whiddon, Tallahassee, FL; Shelia Hasty Ray, Tallahassee, FL; Sandy (Chris) Brown, Ashburn, GA; one brother, Donnie Hasty, Tifton, GA; three sisters Bobbie Summers, Tifton, GA; Mary Jo Gibbs, Ty Ty, GA and Barbara Brannen, Monticello, AK; nine grandchildren, Anna Whiddon Peterson (Corey); Zack (Erica) Hasty; Abby Whiddon Davis (Casey); Tyler Ray; Zane Hasty; Josh Ray; Mackenzie Brown; Aubrey Brown; Macy Brown and two great grandchildren, Charlie Ann Hasty and Emily Gene Hasty. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by two brothers Gerald Hasty and Maxie Hasty.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 10, 2017, from six to eight p.m. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
