Robert John Kunath of Stonington passed away Sunday after a very courageous battle with cancer. Joell, his lifelong friend and wife of 43 years, was at his bedside. A graduate of the University of Illinois, Bob had a distinguished career of more than 30 years with Westinghouse Broadcasting, CBS, and Viacom and enjoyed mentoring many young professionals who considered him a special friend.
Bob was a passionate sailor and member of Larchmont Yacht Club, New York Yacht Club, Wadawanuck Club and was one of the three original founders of Stonington Harbor Yacht Club.
He was a wise and loving father to Victoria and Abigail, father-in-law to Brian and Gregory, grandfather to Penelope Min, and brother to Karl Kunath. He will be fondly remembered for his great humor, integrity, and courage. Bob will be greeted in heaven by his parents, Katherine and Karl and in-laws Ellyn and Joseph.
A Memorial Service will be held at a date and place to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice, P.O. Box 902, Uncasville CT 06382.
