TILTON - Jean Walker Hancock, 92, of 42 Hill Road, died Sunday, November 5, 2017 in her home after a long illness.
She was born on May 26, 1925 in Colebrook, NH, the daughter of the late Charles J. and Ruth (Woodrow) Walker. Jean graduated from Colebrook Academy and also from the Katherine Gibbs School. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Laconia where she was very active in church groups and also a member of the Federated Church in Franklin, MA. Jean was a member of the LRGH Auxiliary, was a member of the Advisory Board for the Taylor Home and was a seventy year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was formerly active in the Girl Scouts and hosted the Hancock Open Reunion for forty years.
She is survived by her six sons; Richard Hancock and his wife Paula of Tilton, Randy Hancock of Meredith, David Hancock and his wife Colleen of Chelmsford, MA., John Hancock and his wife Heide of Peabody, MA., Scott Hancock and his partner Joanne of Maynard, MA and Steven Hancock and his husband Aut of Tilton, one daughter, Susan Storch and her husband Robert of Troy, PA and seven grandchildren; Jennica, Jaimon and Caitlin Hancock, Jenny Storch, Maggie Brooks and her husband JJ and Ryan and Holly Hancock. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Richard Hancock in 2004, one brother, LTC. Charles "Jack" Walker and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Hancock.
Calling hours will be held from 4PM to 7PM on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.
A funeral service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Congregational Church of Laconia, 69 Pleasant Street, Laconia.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the LRGH Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, 80 Highland Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
