Freeport-Lydia Crone, age 82, passed away on November 5, 2017 at Mid-coast hospital in Brunswick after a brief illness. She was born in Nuremberg, Germany a daughter of George and Creszenz Arold.
She resided in her home in Freeport for over 50 years. She enjoyed gardening and mowing her lawn. She also loved to knit and read, she loved her cats and enjoyed music and dancing, otherwise she was a homebody. She was a hard and dedicated worker. She was employed with Eastland Shoe and in her later years with LL Bean. She will be remembered dearly for sharing her many memories of her life in Germany, some good and some of a hard life as a young child. She will also be remembered for her candid way of expressing herself and admired for her strength and perseverance. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Besides both of her parents, she is also predeceased by a brother Rudi Arold, and her husband Arnold Crone. She is survived by two daughters, Charmaine Crone and her fiance Edward Doyle ll of Freeport, and Christine Blackburn of Harrington. 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Dunning, Aaron Libby, Anna Libby, Jesse Blackburn, Cody Blackburn, and Christian Doyle. 3 great grandchildren, Sarah Libby, Gabe Libby and Marlie Rae Libby.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions would be appreciated in memory of Lydia to an animal refuge of your choice.
