Obituary

Porter - Margaret M. "Peggy" Wakefield, 75, of Porter passed away on November 6, 2017 at her home with family by her side. She was born March 2, 1942 in Lebanon, New Hampshire a daughter of Terrance and Rose (St. Jean) Monroe.



She has resided in Porter in the house she built where she loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch with her sister Shirley and working in her flower gardens and on her lawn.



She proudly received her G.E.D. in 1998 followed by her C.N.A. licence in 2010. Peggy was always a hard worker and has worked at Sprague Electric in Sanford, Kezar Falls Woolen Mill, West Point Stevens in Biddeford and Bosal Foam in Limerick. After receiving her C.N.A. licence, she worked at The Gorham House in Gorham.



Besides both of her parents, she is also predeceased by a brother, Terry Monroe, and her granddaughter, Hayley Verrill. She is survived by her daughters: Debra Smith and husband Gary of West Baldwin, Katherine Knight and husband Dennis of Sanford, Tina Abbott and husband Robert of North Berwick, Denise Wakefield and partner Mike Dean of Porter, Betsy Chapman and husband Scott of Porter, Mitzi Emerson and husband Vernon Jr. of Porter and Reva Wakefield Elliott and partner Don Work of Westbrook. Her sons, Lionel Wakefield and wife Krystal of Porter, and Tyrone Wakefield and wife Kim of Madison, NH. Also 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.



Spending time with her large family was most important to Peggy. She would never say good-bye, it was always, "Love you, Toota-Loo"



Visiting hours will be on Saturday, November 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. immediately followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple Street, Cornish. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.mainefuneral.com.
