Shirley M. O´Blenes, age 70, of Woburn, passed away, Sunday, October 16th following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Richard A. O´Blenes. Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Grace L. (Thomas) Kirkland.
Shirley was a devoted mother and homemaker and enjoyed being with her family, taking care of her home, gardening, and caring for her pets. She also worked for 25 years at the Choate Hospital in Woburn and also at the Symmes Hospital in Arlington where over the years she volunteered, worked in the house keeping dept. and later worked in the billing dept. Shirley was very athletic as a young lady and enjoyed dancing and playing many different sports. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Shirley´s memory to the MSPCA 350 South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130.
In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her children Karen O´Blenes and her companion Judy Raduazzo of Woburn, Glenn O´Blenes Sr. and his wife Joni of Londonderry, NH, and Diane O´Blenes of Woburn. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Marissa O´Blenes of Dover, NH and Glen O´Blenes Jr. of Londonderry, NH. she is further survived by her sister, Beverly MacLean, brothers, Henry, Frank and Robert Kirkland. She is predeceased by her sisters Frances Spinazola, Grace Schuler, Muriel Rossi, Beatrice Thrasher, brothers, Arthur, Roger, Frederick, and Walter Kirkland.
A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Wednesday, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 thru 8. Interment services will be private.
