John G. Wooster, Jr. 87, of Medway, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Stanley R. Tippett Hospice Home in Needham. He was the beloved husband of Margaret E. (Campbell) Wooster, who passed away in 2014.
Born in Boston on January 16, 1930, he was the son of the late John G. and Margaret (Murphy) Wooster.
John was a resident of Medway for the past 56 years. He grew up in Dorchester and attended Boston Public Schools. After graduating high school, John enlisted in the Air Force where he served as an Airman First Class during the Korean War.
After his discharge from the Air Force, John continued his education at Wentworth Institute in Boston where he received his Bachelor’s Degree.
Before his retirement, John worked as a machinist for Wayne George, ITEK, and Litton Industries.
John was a member of the VFW in Medway and volunteered at the Medway Senior Center.
In his spare time he loved to cook, ride his bike along the Cape Code Canal, read and go fishing with his friend Ronnie.
He is survived by his two daughters, Corinne Trani and her husband Frank of Dedham and Patricia Mathaisel and her husband Bryan of Westwood and two grandchildren, Bryan Mathaisel, Jr. and his wife Laurie of Connecticut and Holly Webster and her husband Steven of Millis and his great-grandson Bryan Mathaisel III. He is also survived by his sister Christine O’Keefe of Cape Cod.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway on Friday, November 10 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m.
Burial will take place at a later date.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 9 from 4 - 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
