Obituary

Michael A. Brown 77, of Franklin, died peacefully, with family at his side, Thursday Nov. 2, 2017 at Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Bernice C. (Flynn) Brown, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.

Born May 7, 1940 in Boston, a son of the late Thomas and Agnes (Flannery) Brown, he was a former longtime resident of Bellingham before moving to Franklin 2 years ago.

He was raised in the Roxbury section of Boston, was a graduate of Sharon High School and continued his education at Northeastern University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and mathematics. Michael had a long and successful career with the Becton Dickinson Company, where he managed the manufacturing division of their Immunocytometry Systems division in Mansfield, MA.

A proud American, he served his country in the United States Navy, he was stationed aboard the USS Grand Canyon and attainted the rank of Fire Control Technician 3rd Class. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged in March 1961.

Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, fishing along the Cape Cod canal, gardening, bird watching, painting, and construction projects around the house. He was an avid history buff and enjoyed a good political debate.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kristine M. Jacobson and her husband Eric of Leesburg, Virginia and Susan L. Stewart and her husband Kenneth of Wellesley, his grandchildren, Britta, Jack, Kari, Anna, Matthew, Katherine, Caroline and great grandchildren, Rylee & Jaxson.

He was the brother of the late Francis X. Brown and Richard T. Brown.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday Nov. 7th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Square Franklin at 10AM.

Interment will follow at the St. Mary parish cemetery.

Calling hours are Monday from 4-8PM.
