Sarah M. Carter
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother

TEWKSBURY: Sarah Mildred “Middy” (Edwinson) Carter, a longtime Tewksbury resident, died peacefully, with her family at her bedside on Friday, October 27, 2017 in Englewood, Florida.

She was the beloved wife of Charles R. Carter, with whom she would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on November 29, 2017.

Born in Wilmington on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John E. Edwinson, Sr. and Vera May (Britton) Edwinson.

Sarah moved to Tewksbury at an early age. She attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School. Following high school, she attended and graduated from Rittners School of Floraculture in Boston.

She was an avid bowler, loved making crafts as gifts, and belonged to several social clubs.

Sarah was a 25-year Grange member, and was active in the Methodist Church in both Tewksbury and Englewood, FL.

In addition to her husband Charles, Sarah is survived by three sons; Donald W. Carter and his wife Diane (Strasser) of Tewksbury, James E. Carter and his wife Patricia (Poisson) of Tewksbury, and Barry L. Carter and his partner Kathleen Miller of Key Largo, Florida. She also leaves seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Charles R. Carter, Jr., her two sisters, and three brothers.

Calling hours are Friday, Nov. 3, from 3-7 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.
