Albert J. "Al" Cormier, a longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 90 years old.
Al was born in Chelsea on June 26, 1927, a son of the late Edgar Cormier and Jeannette (Lefebvre) Cormier. He grew up in New Hampshire where he was educated there. Al enlisted into the United States Navy on December 5, 1944 and served his country with honor and courage during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on November 6, 1953 with the rank of DC2. He then joined the Naval reserves and retired following 22 years of faithful service to his country. Al worked for Farnsworth Printing as a printer for many years. He was a member of the Wayland V.F.W. Post # 6260. He enjoyed spending time with his family and could always be seen walking around Charlestown with his loving wife Duffy.
Al is the beloved husband of Frances "Duffy" (O'Leary) Cormier. He is the devoted father of William Cormier and Michelle Benson. He is the loving Grandfather to his several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Leo Cormier, George Cormier, Theresa Phillips and the late Lorraine Lefebvre and Francis Cormier. He is also lovingly survived by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Al's Funeral on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at The Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 P.M. His visiting hours will be on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
