Mother, Wife, Sister, Daughter, Aunt, Artist, Teacher, “Mrs. M”, Grandmother, Aunt and Close Friend, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Survived by husband F. Thomas McEwen of Alfred, ME; 3 children: Christine of Lexington, MA; Timothy and his wife Annie of Chicago, IL; and Shawn and his wife Amy of Kennebunk, ME; Brother and Sister in law, Frank and Annie Long of Danvers, MA, Sister in law Betty Long of Wallingford, CT and loving “Ga Ga” to 5 Grandchildren: Riley, Jane, Maggie, Abby and William; and many kind and loving friends.
Devoted to her family, friends, her wide-ranging volunteer efforts, and the many students to whom she taught English-as-a-second language in the Maine public schools, Maureen took a keen interest in forging genuine connections with others. Kind and open, Maureen built strong interpersonal bonds, touching both the family and friends she knew for years, and people she had just met. She took pride in showing her love through cooking, entertaining and always having a bowl of party mix at the ready, savoring having a full house of guests, kids, grandkids and friends. Recently, Maureen enjoyed many adventures on Maine’s backroads and in the Lexington suburbs in her convertible. Maureen, Mom, Ga Ga, you are deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Maureen on Thursday, November 30 at The Alfred Parish Church, 8 Kennebunk Rd, Alfred, ME 04002 at 10:30 am.
