Robert W. "Bobby" Schievink, a lifelong Charlestown resident, entered into eternal life on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at his home in Charlestown. He was 62 years of age.
Bobby was born in Boston on November 5, 1954, a son of the late Mary A. "Sis" (Connolly) Farrell and Robert Schievink and William Farrell. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1972. Bobby enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. on November 1, 1972 and served his country with pride and honor during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on April 20, 1973 with the rank of Private First Class. Bobby later furthered his education by taking classes at Bunker Hill Community College. He worked as a retail store clerk throughout his life. Bobby was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and he was also a member of the Abraham Lincoln V.F.W. Post #11 in Charlestown. In 2007 Bobby was nominated for the Carnegie Civilian Heroism Award.
Bobby is the beloved husband of 42 years to Susan M. (Kyle) Schievink. He is the devoted father of Lisa Schievink and Brian Schievink. He is the beloved brother of LiAne Schievink-Devine and her husband Richard, Katie Farrell-Marbardi and her husband Mitch, Richard Schievink and Jack Schievink. He is the loving nephew of Grace Connolly, and Edward Connolly and his wife Charlene. He is the son-in-law of Joan Kyle. Bobby is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bobby's Funeral Service on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
