LIMINGTON- Rebecca E. Gammon, age 87, of 30 Moody Road in Limington, went home to be with her Lord on Oct. 29, 2017.
She was born on March 24, 1930 in Porter, a daughter of the late Clayton Sr. and Mary (Whitten) Eastman.
She worked at G.E., and Alfred Foot Ware in Limerick, packed apples at local orchards, and was an Avon salesperson for many years.
Rebecca was a member of the South Limington Free Baptist Church. She loved to cook for the church suppers- she made 400 biscuits, brown bread and helped with the cole slaw at each dinner up until her later years.
She will always be remembered as a very giving person who was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay. In addition, she will be remembered for love of sewing and the whoopie pies and donuts she made. Her favorite day of the year was hosting her annual family Christmas Eve party.
She was also a member of the Maine Draft Horse and Oxen Association. Both Rebecca and her husband enjoyed traveling to all of the Maine fairs with their pulling oxen.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years- Harris Gammon; her parents; her siblings- Bertha, Roberta, Marie, Judy, Willis and Alfred; and a grandson- Scott Gammon.
She is survived by her children- Larry and his wife Linda, Kathy and her significant other Herb, Barry and his wife Darlene, Jeff and his significant other Sheila, Geraldine and her husband Mike, and Ryan and his wife Missy; siblings- Herbert Eastman, Clayton Eastman Jr., Celia Harrington, Vera Monroe, Reggie Eastman, Norma Chapman, and Molissia Stinson; grandchildren- Terry, Chris, Raymond, David, Tyke, Vicki, Jason, Lisa, Scott, Ayisha, Christel, and Hosie; twenty four great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; and two expected great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the third floor staff at Springbrook Center in Westbrook and Dr. Robert Rovner for their care and support.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday Nov. 2, from 11 am – 1pm at the South Limington Free Baptist Church, 6 Moody Road in Limington. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 PM at the church. Pastor Will Rankin will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Limington.
