Gaylon N. Spinney Jr., 81, of Derry, NH passed away peacefully on Monday October 23rd at the Elliott Hospital. He was born on September 3rd in Wakefield, MA, Son of Gaylon N. Spinney Sr. and Dorothy Spinney. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years Barbara A. Spinney in 2014. He served in the United States Navy and went on to become an Mechanical Engineer in New Hampshire.
Gaylon was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his five sons, Gaylon L. Spinney and his wife Dawn, David J. Spinney and his wife Susan, Steven O. Spinney and his wife Sharon, Mark T. Spinney and his wife Laura, and Michael J. Spinney and his wife Kristin, 13 grandchildren.
Gaylon and Barbara moved to Derry in 1968 where they raised their five sons. Gaylon spent years volunteering with the Boy Scouts, youth sports and at the Derry Village School. He was a man of few words but led by example in his actions. He was always there for his family and will be remembered for the man he truly was.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service was held on November 4th at 10:00 am in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry, NH. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry assisted the family with arrangements.
