Richard R. Hicks, 77, of New Bedford died October 21, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
He was the husband of the late Charlotte "Lola" (Andrade) Hicks.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Andrew and Gertrude (Cash) Hicks, he lived in Ft. Lauderdale before returning to New Bedford.
He played semipro football with the Murphy Club.
Survivors include 2 brothers, Paul Hicks of Brockton and Donald Hicks of Hyannis; 2 sisters, Dolores Thompson and her husband Jesse of Mattapan and Lorraine Henshaw of Greenville, GA; a granddaughter, Chantel Hicks; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Richard Hicks-Stuart and the brother of the late Vernon Cash, Gloria Stuart, Andrew Hicks, Jr. and Charles Hicks.
His visiting hours will be held on Saturday, October 28th from 2-4 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford.
