Obituary

Joseph V. Marrocco 85, passed away on October 23, 2017. Joe is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 56 years Judith (Connolly) Marrocco. Beloved father of Joseph Marrocco of Scituate and daughter in law Lauren Marrocco of Duxbury, Ellen Nolan and son in law Greg of Duxbury. Devoted grandfather of Alexie Marrocco of New York City, Erica and her husband Darien Brothers, Nicholas Marrocco, Olivia Nolan, and William Nolan all of Duxbury. Proud great grandfather of London Brothers also of Duxbury. Devoted son of Nicola and Anna Marrocco formerly of North Quincy (deceased). Brother of surviving siblings Rita Carver of Florida, Al Marrocco and wife Betty of Rockland, Dotty Finn and husband Bill of Pocasset, and sister in law Ruthie Marrocco of Quincy. Pre-deceased by Justino Marrocco and wife Blanche, Lucy O’ Connell and husband Jack, Frances Morrill and husband Doug, Constantino Marrocco, Eleanor Thorbahn and husband John. Also survived by sister in law Patricia Bugbee and husband David of Plympton. Joe leaves many loving nieces and nephew‘s and countless dear friends. Joe was born in North Quincy Massachusetts. His parents were Italian immigrants who raised a large family of nine children in a home filled with much love and wonderful cooking. Joe was a graduate of North Quincy High School and honorably served his Country in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his discharge, he earned both a bachelors and a masters degree from Northeastern University. Joe had a long and distinguished career in the footwear industry. He worked for USM in Boston and Beverly for many years, and finished his career serving as President of ET Wright Shoes in Rockland. Joe’s true passion came later in life when he became a lecturer in Business Management at Boston University, where he taught for over 20 years, right up until the time of his passing. The greatest love of his life was his wife and family, especially his grandchildren who kept him busy traveling near and far to watch them play hockey and lacrosse. He was their biggest fan and closest confidant. Joe will be forever loved and missed by all that knew him. Visiting hours will be held at the shepherd funeral home, 216 Main St. Kingston on Friday, October 27, from 4:00 to 8:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 28, at 10:00AM at Holy Family Church in Duxbury, 601 Tremont St. Interment will follow at Mayflower Cemetery, 774 Tremont St. Duxbury MA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Joseph’s name to Mass General Yawkey Cancer Center, Duxbury Youth Hockey or Duxbury Youth Lacrosse.
