Obituary

Warren Donald Sellers, also known by the affectionate nicknames of “Buster” and “Sellers,” died on Sunday at the age of 97.

Mr. Sellers was born on July 9, 1920 in Angola, Indiana. The son of the late George and Lydia Sellers, Warren was the youngest of ten children. He spent many years in Indiana primarily as a dairy farmer where he raised Holstein cows and Hampshire hogs. Mr. Sellers sold the first bull to be used for artificial insemination in the State of Indiana.

In 1963, Mr. Sellers and his late wife, Celesta Cole Sellers, moved to Brunswick, Georgia. Warren and his wife Celesta were married for 49 years. There, they owned and operated Sellers Construction and built over 300 homes in southern Georgia and northeastern Florida. Mr. Sellers also remodeled the Plains home of former President Jimmy Carter during Carter’s presidency. Mr. Sellers was an avid baseball player. He was recruited by the Washington Senators as a catcher. He opted not to pursue this career. He coached and played baseball and softball until he was 65. After the death of his wife, Mr. Sellers moved to Waynesville, Georgia. He relocated to Fitzgerald, Georgia in 2014 and lived with his daughter Jan and her husband David Kicklighter. He attended the First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald.

Warren is survived by his children: Gordon Sellers, and his wife, Carolyn Sue, of Nixa, Missouri; Jan Kicklighter, and her husband, David, of Fitzgerald, Georgia; and his son-in-law, Charlie Edgy, and his wife, Kathy, of Waycross, Georgia. He is also survived by several grandchildren: Lee Kicklighter, and his wife, Tiffany, of McDonough, Georgia; Mike Kicklighter, and his wife, Nicole, of Fitzgerald, Georgia; Amy Edgy of Washington, DC; Rhett Edgy of Brunswick, Georgia; Logan Edgy, and his wife, Brittany, of Waynesville, Georgia; and several great-grandchildren: Makayla and Gage Kicklighter, of Fitzgerald, Georgia; and Charlee and Blakely Kicklighter, of McDonough, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings, his wife, Celesta Cole Sellers, and two children - Steven Sellers and Saundra “Sissy” Sellers Edgy.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at two p.m. at Edo Miller Funeral Home, Glynn Ave. in Brunswick, Georgia. Visitation will follow.
