Obituary

Thomas E. "Tommy" Burns, a longtime resident of Chelsea and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Monday, October 23, 2017 at his home in Chelsea. He was 68 years old.

Tommy was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 8, 1949, a son of the late Thomas F. Burns and Ellen C. (Burke) Burns. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1969. Tommy was drafted into the United States Army on August 13, 1969 and served his country faithfully and with pride during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on August 12, 1971 with the rank of Specialist-4. Tommy worked for many years at the Stone Zoo as a Wildlife Specialist where he enjoyed all types of animals.

Tommy is the devoted father of Karen Burns. He is the loving Poppy to Rachel Burns and Jade Burns. He is the beloved brother of Laney Wadman, Paul Burns and Jimmy Burns. He is also lovingly survived by his nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Tommy's visiting hours on Monday morning, October 30, 2017 from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His Committal Service will take place at 1:00 P.M. on Monday at The Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne.
