Obituary

Maude Nadine Colanchick, only child of Pete and Elsie Colanchick, passed away on Sunday morning, October 22, 2017.
Nadine was born in Oxnard, California on March 16 1924. She spent the last 5 years, 9 months, and 7 days at the Victoria Care Center where she would call all the nurses and C.N.A.'s by name.
She was affectionally known at The Bridge as the "Candy Lady," as her habit was to present every player at the table with a piece of See's Candy. Her partner reports that someone would ask at every event if she had Stock in See's Candy. A favorite remark about our Bridge game was "we don't play well, but we play fast."
For several years Nadine was the Executive Secretary for the C.E.O. of Littin Industries in Los Angeles. When her father became ill, she returned to Ventura to assist her mother with his care. After his death, she became a companion to her mother. They enjoyed many trips and cruises.
After her mother's death, Nadine continued to explore the world. She traveled to India on a quest to see a Marwari horse, particular breed she was curious to see. She always made a trip over Christmas and New Years, attending Midnight Mass in the Great Cathedrals on Christmas Eve.
Nadine is survived by her cousins; Arden Hampton and Michael Schmidt and his eleven brothers and sisters and her caregiver friend, Barb Paarmann.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the San Buenaventura Mission. Entombment will be next to her parents at the Ivy Lawn Cemetery mausoleum. Nadine was entrusted into the care of the family-owned JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street Ventura.
