Richard C. Gramatico 90, of Franklin, died peacefully, with family at his side, Sunday October 22, 2017 at the Blaire House of Milford, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Amelia A. (DiBenedetto) Gramatico, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.
Born January 3, 1927 in Pelham, New York the only son of Salvatore and Louise (Camillone) Gramatico, he was a former longtime resident of Newtown, CT, and Marshfield before settling in Franklin.
He was raised and educated in New York and was a graduate of New York Technical. Richard worked as a regional sales manager for the Panasonic Corporation and won many sales achievement awards. Following his retirement and along with his wife they operated “Poor Richard’s Antiques” in Marshfield.
A proud American, Richard served in the United States Navy with the Seabees during WWII. He was stationed in Okinawa and attained the rank of carpenter’s mate third class; he was awarded the WWII Victory medal, the American Theatre Medal, & the Asiatic Pacific Medal. Richard was honorably discharged in June 1946.
He enjoyed many hobbies including photography, stained glass, making wooden pens; metal detecting, bicycling and restoring antique pieces.
In addition to his wife he is survivied by his children, Richard S. Gramatico of Bethel, CT, Mary L. Lucey of Hingham, Stephen R. Gramatico of Marshfield, Lisa A. Tucciarone and her husband James of Attleboro and Janine M. Ferrarone and her husband Charles of Deerfield, NH, a sister June Vail and her husband Kenneth of Easton, PA.
Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren Keith Gramatico, Katherine Gramatico Meisner and her husband Brian, Danielle Lucey Lamy and her husband Eric, Michael Lucey, Alyssa Ferrarone and Matthew Ferrarone, great grandchildren Evangeline Lamy, Oliver Lamy and many nieces & nephews.
The family would like to extended their gratitude and appreciation to the Companion Care Hospice.
Richard’s funeral service and interment with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be held privately.
