PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL – Cyrilla “Lil” (Sroczenski) Sroka, 99, formerly of Webster, died Sunday, October 15, 2017 in Symphony Memory Care Center after a brief period of declining health. Her husband of 16 years, Joseph A. Sroka, died in 1956.
She leaves a daughter, Linda C. Chambless and her husband James of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; 4 grandchildren, Xenos and Jason Sroka, Lisa Armbruster and Paul Heckman; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Sroczenski of Dudley, MA. She was preceded in death by her son Paul, and by 5 sisters, Wanda, Phyllis, Nancy, Julia and Claudia and 3 brothers, Raymond, Chester and Louis.
She was born on October 30, 1917 in Webster, the youngest daughter of the 10 children of Walter and Mary (Baczek) Sroczenski and lived here most of her life. She moved to her daughter’s home in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL in 2009.
Mrs. Sroka worked as a waitress at the State Line Casino for many years, and as a glass inspector at Omnitech and as a stitcher at the Herideen Rug Company.
She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica, and a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, dancing, and spending time on Webster Lake. She had a beautiful smile, loved her family, and remained fond of everyone and everything in Webster.
The funeral will be held Monday, October 30, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in the funeral home.
