Laconia—Barbara J. Hamilton, 86, longtime resident of the Lakes Region, died on Thursday October 19, 2017 at the Laconia Rehabilitation Center.
Barbara was born on March 30, 1931 in Laconia the daughter of the late F.R and Hazel (Hildreth) Gleason.
Barbara worked as a nurse at the Laconia Hospital and was also a secretary for the State of New Hampshire. Barbara was involved with several organizations including; Belmont Fire Department Auxiliary, Emblem Club, Red Hat Club, and the Laconia Friendship Club.
Barbara is survived by a daughter Barbara ( Sue) Eggleston, a granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Hamilton; a great-granddaughter Lacy Gallup. two sons, Donald of South Carolina and Mike Hamilton of Center Harbor; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Haven Gleason of Laconia and a step-brother Joe Labreque. In addition to her parents Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Donald Hamilton Sr., a daughter, Bonnie Jean two sisters, Edna Loke and Donna Therbrege.
There will be no calling hours or funeral.
A private burial will take place in the family lot in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Laconia.
