Douglas E. Wiggins, 79, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Sunday, October 22, 2017, at PruittHealth Ocilla in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, with the Rev. Roger Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Pinetta Cemetery, in Irwin County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Wiggins was born September 5, 1938, in Fayette County, Alabama, to the late Johnny William & Lelia Mae Newman Wiggins. He had lived in the community for over 38 years and worked for G & L Steel, Hardees and also had a landscaping business. Mr. Wiggins loved his church, fishing, his family and visiting with family and friends. He was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his step-sons, John L. “Buddy” Guy & Mae of Cook County and Sammy & Janice Guy of Fitzgerald; two brothers: John Wiggins of Ocilla and Donald & Brenda Wiggins of Fitzgerald and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Henry Guy Wiggins; three infant brothers and a step-daughter, Janie Sheffield.
