Elna Nougués was born on May 21st, 1937 in L'Anse-a-Veau, Haiti. She was the third and last daughter of Eliana Dorvilier and Cineas Nougués. Elna went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 18, 2017.
From the time she way young, she was very hardworking, an avid reader, and very passionate about learning. She went to school Chez Les Soeurs de L'Anse-a-Veau where she felt very drawn to God. She decided to be Catholic and took her relationship with the Lord very seriously.
Her mom, Eliana passed away July 21st, 1952 when she was just 15 years old. After her mom's death, she left L'Anse-a-Veau to go live with her late eldest sister, Carmen Nougués, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She worked several different jobs to take care of herself.
Elna gave birth to three children. Marie-Josée Augustin, Kettelye Auguste, and Emmanuel Auguste. She taught them the importance of loving God, how to sing songs of praise, and how to pray. She was also very passionate about reading and sharing several Bible stories with them. She emphasized the importance of education, the value of hard work, and discipline. She was an astute business woman who made a lot of sacrifices to guarantee the very best education possible for her children. She was always very friendly, outgoing, and full of life.
Elna left Haiti and came to New York in December 1994. In 2004, she began attending Brooklyn Tabernacle where she rededicated her life to Jesus Christ and was water baptized. In 2010, she left New York to go to Boston to be with her son Emmanuel and granddaughter Elizabeth Auguste. Elna loved to sing and read bible stories. Her smile and love impacted everyone who knew her.
Elna is survived by her three children Marie-Josée Augustin, Kettelye Auguste Jodesty, and Emmanuel Auguste. Her son in law Batelmy Jodesty and daughter in law Guerda Auguste. Her four grandchildren Shaina Dupuy, Browdlee Dupuy, Henzley Pierre-Louis, and Elizabeth Auguste. Her brothers and sisters Samson Nougués, Félix Nougués, Mariela Nougués, Miguélite Nougués, Rosemelie Nougués, Saintsoit Nougués and Lipé Nougués. Her nieces and nephews Hanz Nougués, Ketude Nougués, Nesly Nougués, Ravinson René, Enock Frédéric and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held in the First Haitian Church of Brockton, 940 Main Street Brockton Saturday October 28th at 9 am, Visitation from 8 am prior. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery. Visitation in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel 238 Court Street Brockton Friday October 27th from 5-9 pm.
