Bertha K. Stalonczyk
Former Longtime Tewksbury Resident
TEWKSBURY: Bertha K. (Mikenas) Stalonczyk, age 91, a Tewksbury resident for over 30 years, passed away with her family at her side, at the Mary Immaculate Health Care Center in Lawrence on Thursday, October 19, 2017.
She was the beloved wife of Alexander V. Stalonczyk, who passed away on April 19, 2002.
Born in Boston on July 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Mikenas and the late Catherine (Latvis) Mikenas.
Bertha was raised in Dorchester, and graduated from Dorchester High School.
She resided in Tewksbury from 1960 until retiring to Ft. Myers, FL in 1994.
In 2011, she returned to the area so she could be closer to her children.
Bertha was a communicant of St. William’s Parish in Tewksbury.
She was an accomplished baker and was known for her delicious desserts. In addition, she was a talented seamstress, a loving wife, and devoted mother.
Family members and friends referred to Bertha as the “Hallmark Lady” as she could be counted on to send cards on every occasion.
She is survived by three children, Alexander J. Stalonczyk, of Andover, John A. Stalonczyk, of Andover and Diane M. Stalonczyk, of Methuen; her brother, Joseph Mikenas, of Cleveland, OH; her sister, Mary Bifulco, of Naples, FL; also many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Bertha was the mother of the late Joseph A. Stalonczyk, who passed away in May 1999.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 5-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Mary Immaculate Health Care Center, 172 Lawrence St., Lawrence, MA 01841.
