Barbara E. Duran passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2017 after a long battle of cancer. She was at home with family by her side.
Barbara was born in Oxnard to Benjamin and Esther Enriquez on January 31, 1935. She was raised in Ventura and attended Ventura schools, graduated from Ventura High School and Ventura College. She worked as an Administrative Secretary for over 40 years at the Ventura County Superintendent of Schools Office.
Barbara had a passion for music, she learned to play the piano at a very young age and self taught herself the guitar later in life. She was a member of the church choir and the Gold Coast Community Choir. She was a world traveler and visited places such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, Panama Canal and many road trips in her motor home. One of the family’s favorite was June Lake, which holds many special memories.
Barbara devoted her life to the San Buenaventura Mission where she volunteered in many capacities.
She enjoyed attending sporting events of her grandchildren and was proud to be their #1 fan.
She was preceded in death by her father Benny Enriquez, mother Esther Enriquez, sisters, Helen Rose Gomez, Esther Nevarez and Patricia Almaguer. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Peter J. Duran; children, Stephanie Magdaleno, Peter B. Duran (Gina), Anna Duran (Jim), Sandra Barron (B.J.). 6 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild with 2 more on the way, sister Angela Marquez, and numerous nephew and nieces.

The Rosary will be held on Thursday 10/26/2017 at San Buenaventura Mission at 6:00 p.m., the funeral
mass will be held on Friday 10/27/2017 at 10:00 a.m, followed by graveside service at Ivy Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements are held at Reardon Mortuary. Donations can be made in Barbara’s honor to
