Joseph A. Scherer, 67 of Derry, NH died Thursday October 19, 2017 at his home. Joe was born in Boston, MA on May 27, 1950 a son of the late Joseph J. and Jeannette (Dyott) Scherer. He served with the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. Joe retired from the Belmont Post Office, Belmont, MA after 30 years of employment with the US Postal Service. Joe had a magnificent sense of humor which was enjoyed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce (Shay) Scherer of Derry, two daughters, Jennifer Wells and her husband Charles of Olympia, WA, and Heather Weeks and her husband Anthony of Goffstown, NH, two granddaughters, Avery Rose and Quinn Marie Weeks, three brothers, Stephen Scherer, Kevin Scherer, Gerald Scherer and the late Philip Scherer, one sister, Cindy Blay, his sister-in-law, Dianne Shay, and by many nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, calling hours were held on Tuesday October 24, 2017 from 3 – 6 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. A prayer service followed at 6:00pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
