WESTON: Susan E. (Smith) Merrill, 75, died peacefully and comfortably on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a period of declining health.
She was born in Waltham on November 29, 1941 the daughter of the late Lincoln Smith and Anna (Sanders) Smith.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years Herbert W. “Herb” Merrill of Weston. Loving mother of Herbert L. Merrill and his wife Sarah Merrill of Grand Rapids, MI; Scott A. Merrill of Millis; Andrew S. Merrill and Gary S. Merrill both of Weston. Cherished grandmother of Preston and Emlynn Merrill both of Grand Rapids, MI and Aubrey and Aaron Merrill both of Burlington, VT. Sister of Edwin Smith and his wife Claire Smith of Weston. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Susan has been a lifelong resident and 8th generation of the Smith family to live in Weston. She graduated from Weston High School with the Class of 1959.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family who were the center of her life. She was devoted to her Christian faith and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Weston and a member of the church choir. She also loved to spend hours with her family and enjoyed cooking.
Visitations will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 657 Boston Post Road, Weston.
Private family interment in Linwood Cemetery in Weston will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Susan’s memory be sent to a hospice provider of the donor’s choice.
