TEWKSBURY - Mr. Arthur R. Gamache, age 86, a devoted General Electric engineer, died peacefully at his Tewksbury home on Monday morning, October 16, 2017. He was the beloved husband for sixty-two years of Jeanne Lagasse Gamache, who died in May 2015.
Arthur was born in Fall River, in April 1931, one of six children of the late Louis and Rose (Montplaisir) Gamache, and raised in Sommerset, MA, where he graduated from Prevost High School. After graduation, he enlisted into the U.S. Coast Guard. He then graduated from the University of Rhode Island, and became a Mechanical Engineer. His career with General Electric brought him to Schenectady, NY, then to Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and finally, in 1982, to Tewksbury, where he would finish his career at General Electric in Wilmington.
As a resident of North Tewksbury, he was an active member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in West Andover. One word that would best describe him is faithful; faithful to God, faithful to family and faithful his employer. He was a hard worker and put others needs before his own.
He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, David A. and Sharon (Campbell) Gamache of Hillsborough, NH; two beloved grandsons, Joshua and Kyle; a sister, Sr. Cecile Gamache P.M. of Manchester, NH; several nieces and nephews; and was brother of the late Henry, Louis, Roland, and George Gamache.
Visiting hours Thursday, Oct. 19, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, PH. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. His funeral will begin Friday, Oct. 20, at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass Friday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Rd., Andover, MA 01810.
