Mrs. Nelle Watkins West, age 96, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017 in Tifton, where she had been residing for the last four years. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill, Tennessee with the Rev. David Johnson and the Rev. Larry Chatman officiating. Mrs. West will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Franklin, Tennessee. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill, Tennessee.
Jordan West, Alvin Ingram, Randy West, Robert West, Mack West, Nathan Sawyer, Herb Hulme, Ron Utley and Jimmy Spratt will serve as pallbearers.
Born December 14, 1920 in Marshall County, Tennessee, Mrs. was the daughter of the late Joe Penn and Ayune Walker Watkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Edward West, Sr., who died in 2013, a son Jim West, and a brother, Charles Watkins. She was a homemaker and member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill, Tennessee.
Mrs. West is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe W. and Joy West of Tifton; grandchildren, Rachel West of Fort Collins, Colorado; Jordan West of Newnan; long time employee and special family friend, Alvin Ingram of Chapel Hill, Tennessee; and staff and her many friends at Maple Court Senior Residence in Tifton.
