Obituary

Edmund A. Wedge, age 88, lifelong of Brockton, died Thursday, October 12, 2017 after a brief illness. Edmund was the husband of the late Francine (Feinberg) Wedge and son of the late Aaron and Irene (Belanger) Wedge. He was a 1947 graduate of Brockton High School. After high school, Edmund worked for the former Knapp Shoe Company in Brockton for several years and later worked as an electronic parts salesman for many years. In 1972, he and his brother Roger created a movie theater company called Cinema Four Corporation and opened a Jerry Lewis Cinema franchise in Salem, NH. In 1978 they opened a second location on the East Side of Brockton, next to the former Christo’s Restaurant. They renamed that theater the East Side Cinema in 1980 and operated it with their brother Robert until 1998.

Edmund was a resident of St. Joseph’s Manor for the past 10 years and was an avid reader and wrote plays and stories as a hobby.

Edmund is survived by his brothers Roger Wedge and his wife Justine, Robert Wedge and his wife Sue and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norman Wedge and Lorraine Babb.

Visiting Hours will be held Tuesday, October 17 from 4-7pm in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, Brockton. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30am followed by burial in Melrose Cemetery.
