Augusta, GA - Scott A. Matthews, 24, entered into rest on Sunday, October 8, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with Sgt. Jeremy Greer officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
Scott was loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend. He had a contagious smile and a personality that would draw you in as soon as you met him. Scott enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working in the yard with his grandparents. He loved his job at Lowe’s and his service in the Army. Scott graduated from boot camp in October 2011 and became a Rigger with the Airborne Division. He recently reenlisted as an MP (Military Police) and was expected to report to his unit on October 21, 2017.
Scott is survived by his daughter, Nature,; his father, Tony Matthews; his mother, Toni Rushing (Charles); his fiancé, Kendra Davis; his brother, William McGee; his sister, Kathryn Hobson (Kyle); his grandparents, Scott and Linda Baker, and Johnny and Cathy Matthews; his niece and nephew, Katelyn and Kolten Hobson; his aunts and uncles, Kim Carter, Jay and Amy Matthews, and David and Regina Matthews; his stepbrother, Jonathon Rushing; his stepsister, Christina Thompson (Jason); his step grandparents, Charles E. Rushing and Wanell Miller; his step niece and nephew, Kaelyn and Jacob Thompson; and by numerous cousins and extended family members.
Through organ donation, Scott will continue to help others and he will live on through those he was able to help. “Someone may have taken our sons life, but will never take his memory”.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
