Olive M. (Fiscus) Joannides, 91, of Anderson, died October 11, 2017, at her residence following a long and beautiful life.
Olive was born June 30, 1926 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Edison E. and Gladys (Febinger) Fiscus. She graduated from Kittanning High School in 1944, Anderson College in 1954 with a bachelor's degree, and Ball State University in 1961 with her master's degree. In her early years, she was a missionary for the Church of God in Kenya. She, along with her husband Savas, also pastored at the Church of God in Athens, Greece. She was a teacher for Anderson Community Schools for 33 1/2 years before retiring in June of 1992. She taught many of those years at College Corner Elementary School. She attended Park Place Church of God, was a member of Charissa Club and Chief Anderson Lions Club. Olive's love for people was best expressed in her incredible gift of hospitality and her service to this community.
She is survived by her daughters, Joy Lynn (Brent) McKay of Fremont, NE; Jan Lee Joannides (Brett Olson) of Zumbro Falls, MN; her bonus daughter, Dawn Brady (Steve) Wimmer; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Michaela) McKay, Andrew (Hope) McKay, Olivia Olson Joannides and Axel Joannides Olson; great grandson, Brayden McKay; three bonus grandchildren, Brianna Wimmer, Sage (Justin) Brandman and Rees Wimmer; sister, Patricia Baker and brother, Edward Fiscus; several cousins, nieces, nephews and especially Mary Kourouniotis- Margaritides-Farmer (Jerry) and Dimitri.
Olive was preceded in death by husband, Savas Joannides whom she married August 17, 1958.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Park Place Church of God with Dr. David Markle officiating.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Park Place Church of God Children's Center or Anderson University.
