Obituary

Elizabeth Byrne Anderson of Noank passed away peacefully at home October 7th after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 13, 1919 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Walter and Elizabeth Byrne. She graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1936 and Connecticut College for Women, New London CT. in 1940.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William, and a brother, Robert Byrne of Littleton, CO. As well as two sons and daughters-in-law: Tom and Lynn of Rowayton, CT. and Bob and Susie of Carbondale, CO., 4 grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

She and William were married in Omaha in 1945, and moved to Noank where they have lived ever since.

“Betty” or “Ma”, as she was known will be dearly missed. She was a voracious reader, and consequently could converse on any subject from sports to politics. She took great pleasure in knowing as much about baseball as any of the kids in the neighborhood. She was a good listener and accepting of others. When asked for advice her classic answer was “pick your battles.”

The family wishes to thank the many friends, neighbors, relatives and caregivers that have given so much to make our difficult time easier to bear.

Services are private. Interment will be at a later date.

Hospice of S.E. Connecticut 179 Gallivan Lane P.O. Box 902 Uncasville, CT. 06382 and The Mystic-Noank Library 40 Library St. Mystic, CT. 06355 are accepting donations in her name.
