LIMINGTON- William “Bill” James Harmon, age 85, passed away at his home on Oct. 10, 2017, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Bridgton on July 4, 1932, the son of the late James and Beatrice (Berry) Harmon.
After attending the Franklin School in Limington, Bill went on to work in the woods. He later worked for Hawkes Sawmill where he drove truck for a short while, and retired from F. E. Woods Sawmill where he performed various roles.
He raised cattle and pigs in his earlier years and enjoyed deer hunting every fall.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife- Phoebe (Dow) Harmon; his sister- Eva Warren; and son in law- Jeff Douglass.
Bill is survived by his children- Alton Harmon and his wife Peggy of Limington and Genella Douglass of Baldwin; grandchildren- Andrew, Mary, Audrey, and Elizabeth “Bess”; and great grandchildren- Bayleigh, Gage, and Oliver.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday Oct. 21 at 4 PM at Steep Falls Cemetery, on Rt. 113. A potluck gathering will then follow at Alton and Peggy's home.
