John W. Linsley (93) of Provincetown died October 7th peacefully in his home after a long illness. He was the partner of Robert E. Payson for 46 years.
He was born in New Haven, Connecticut son of the late Henry and Adel (Longstone) Linsley. He graduated from the University of Connecticut Class of 1949 Bachelor's Degree of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Boston Teachers College, Class of 1957, Masters Degree in Education and taught at the James P. Timilty School in Boston. He was a WWII Army Veteran and served 4 years in the signal core. He served in General George Patton 3rd Army and participated in the Battle of the Bulge earning 3 Battle Stars. John was owner of the Ecno-Wash Laundry Mats located in Quincy, Hyde Park and Roslindale. John was a talented antique clock collector repairing and selling, he also enjoyed counted cross stitching and attending antique car shows.
In addition to Robert he leaves his cousin Ronald Cooper of New Haven, Connecticut, also his partners relatives in the Fitchburg area.
Visitation in the Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home 99 Summer Street, Fitchburg Wednesday October 11th from 4-8 pm. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday October 12th in the Forest Hills Cemetery, 115 MT Elam Road, Fitchburg at 11 am. Funerarias Multi Culturel in Charge of Arrangements.
