Obituary

Earl A. Schlie, 66, of Berlin, passed away on Monday October 9, 2017 at his home. He was born in St. Clair, MI on July 15, 1951 the son of the late Earl E. and Lillian S. (Marks) Schlie and moved to California when he was 9. He lived most of his life in California and moved to Berlin in 2009. He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. Earl was a self-employed machinist and also worked as a manufacturing engineer and was a coach for the Children’s Baseball League and the Children’s Bowling League. He was the Founding President of the Society of Engineers at Pierce College in California and he enjoyed painting, playing the guitar, writing songs, books, old cars and history.

Family includes his wife Elizabeth (Howe) Schlie of Berlin, NH; his children Conan Schlie of Berlin, NH, Evette Schlie of Washington, DC, Chief Petty Officer Jesse Garcia-Montes of Washington, DC and Tina Schlie of Berlin, NH; his sister Sally Wilkins of AZ; his brother Robert Schlie of CA; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held on Friday October 13, 2017 at 1:30 PM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. There will be no calling hours. The Bryant Funeral Home in Berlin is in charge of the arrangements.
