WORCESTER-Joan M. (DeCourcy) Dwyer, 91, formerly of Grandview Avenue, died Friday, October 6, 2017 at Sterling Village Nursing Center. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John E. and Mary Alice (Monroe) DeCourcy and graduated from South High School.
Mrs. Dwyer was employed at Brass Smith House for several years before retiring. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Joan enjoyed reading and following the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Her family was most important to her, and she truly cherished the time spent with her grandsons and great granddaughter.
Her husband of 40 years, Earl W. Dwyer predeceased her on April 26, 1994. She is survived by three sons; Thomas E. Dwyer and his wife Anne of Auburn, James M. Dwyer of Worcester and John W. Dwyer and his wife Julie of Holden; two grandsons, Thomas Dwyer and his wife Kerry and Andrew Dwyer; a great granddaughter, Margaret Elizabeth “Maggie” Dwyer, and several nephews and nieces. Joan was predeceased by her five siblings; William, Clifton, John, Alfred and Margaret DeCourcy.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 11 from CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street with a Mass at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will also be held on Wednesday from 9:30 until 10:30 am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be made to the Our Lady of the Angels Building Fund, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
