BUXTON- Carl B. Geyer Jr. 84 of Buxton passed away peacefully on October 4, 2017 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Carl was born on August 7, 1933 in Kingfield Maine and was the son of the late Carl Geyer Sr. of Bristol Maine and Gwendolyn (Atwood) Geyer also of Kingfield Maine. He grew up in Kingfield Maine until the age of 7 moving to Falmouth where he attended Falmouth schools until the time of his deployment into the US Navy in 1951 until 1955. In the Navy he was a Gunners mate on 3 different minesweepers during the Korean War.
In 1960 Carl married his late wife of 57 years, Marilyn Patnaude. Carl and Marilyn resided in Pine Point moving to Buxton in 1987.
Following his honorable discharge Carl spent 2 years in Philadelphia returning to Maine in 1957 where he worked for Merrill Transport Company driving oil trucks until 1963. Carl went on to work at B&M Baked Beans where he left to work at Shaw’s Supermarkets retiring in 1996 following 30 years of service.
Carl had many hobbies, hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR racing on Sunday afternoons, camping, playing cards. One of Carl’s favorite camping spot was Lily Bay State Park in Greeneville Maine. Carl spent many winters with his wife Marilyn camping in different parts of Florida where they made several friends.
He is predeceased by his wife, Marilyn who passed away in 2016 his sisters Ramona and Brenda Geyer.
Carl is survived by his daughter-Terry Geyer; son- Timothy Geyer his fiancé Cathy Boissonneault; grandson-Corey Geyer; granddaughter-Emily Geyer, all of Buxton. His sisters- Almeida Hilton her husband David of Falmouth; Sharon Dunn of Massachusetts; Carol Waterman of Scarborough; brothers- Ted Geyer and wife Tina of Standish; Wally Geyer his wife Sue of Falmouth; Robert Geyer his wife Gloria of Westbrook; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday October 11, 2017 from 12 – 2 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Burial will follow at South Buxton (Tory Hill) Cemetery in Buxton. Online condolences messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com.
