David G. Wydler Sr., 73, of Ledyard died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, surrounded by his family. He was born September 23, 1944, in New London, the son of Evelyn and Ernest Wydler.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for 50 years, 45 of these for Deedy Construction, as well as numerous personal jobs with his own machines. Working hard was his passion, both on the clock and off. When he wasn’t working, he loved going on fast joy rides on his Harley Davidson and numerous sports cars. He had a love for the water and always enjoyed being out on his boat, whether riding or fishing. Anyone who ever rode with him knew he was going to run it wide open and be in for a ride. Dave loved camping and attending Nascar races with his son, David Jr. His love for life was immeasurable. He had stories for days and a contagious laugh. He loved spending as much time as possible with his two grandchildren who loved him unconditionally. He’ll be greatly missed by his many friends.
David is survived by his son, David, and his wife Bonny and his grandchildren Hailey and David.
He is predeceased by his parents Evelyn and Ernest Wydler and his sister Shirley White.
His family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, October 6, from 6 to 8pm, at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 7, at 10am in Lambtown Cemetery, Lambtown Road, Ledyard.
